If the boards are solid and thick enough to sand, refinishing is usually the better value, it restores the surface for a fraction of replacement cost. We replace when there is deep water damage, structural issues, or the wood has been sanded too many times already. At your free estimate we tell you honestly which one your floor needs.
A typical room or two takes about 3 to 5 days, including sanding, staining, and letting each coat of finish cure. Whole-home projects take longer. We give you a clear day-by-day schedule before we start so you can plan around it.
Pricing depends on square footage, the wood, and whether it is a new install or a refinish. Refinishing generally runs a lower per-square-foot rate than new installation. Rather than a guess, we measure your space and give you a written estimate at no charge.
You can usually walk on the floors in socks within about 24 hours of the final coat, and move furniture back after a few days once the finish has cured. We give you exact timing for the products we use on your job.
